29 Aug 2022

Nova Scotia - Each project should receive a 25-year power purchase agreement from the province to supply electricity.

Gladys Fernandez, Marketing Director at Hitachi Energy has announced that Nova Scotia approved 372 megawatts of new Indigenous-owned wind capacity and a private developer seeking a permit for a green hydrogen and ammonia plant on Cape Breton Island.

According to Fernandez, the five new wind projects, equivalent to about 12% of Nova Scotia's electricity consumption, are all majority owned by one or more of Nova Scotia's Mi'kmaq communities.

Each project should receive a 25-year power purchase agreement from the province to supply electricity.
