BELGIUM - The offshore platform is a central technical part of the Baltic Eagle project.

50Hertz Transmission GmbH has announced that the offshore transmission platform for the Baltic Eagle wind farm is currently being constructed in Hoboken close to Antwerpen in Belgium. Together with Iberdrola, we at 50Hertz share responsibility for the platform which is built by the joint venture EQUANS Smulders.

According to 50Hertz Transmission GmbH, the offshore platform is a central technical part of the Baltic Eagle project. It should collect the electricity produced by all 50 wind turbines and transform its voltage from 66 kilovolts (kV) to 220 kV to transport it to the German high-voltage grid with much more efficiency. Baltic Eagle is an offshore wind farm in the Baltic Sea that is located 30 kilometers (19 miles) to the northeast of Rügen Island in Germany.
