Ørsted Advances Baltica 2 and Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Projects
Ørsted has advanced construction on two of its major offshore wind developments, the Baltica 2 project in Poland and Hornsea 3 in the United Kingdom.
At Baltica 2, the company has begun installing foundations as offshore construction activity ramps up. In the UK, Ørsted has commissioned the first monopile foundation for Hornsea 3, which is expected to become one of the largest offshore wind farms globally once completed.
The Hornsea 3 project involves hundreds of monopile foundations and is designed to significantly expand offshore generation capacity in the North Sea region. Baltica 2 similarly forms part of Poland’s wider efforts to scale up offshore wind deployment in the Baltic Sea.
Both projects sit within Ørsted’s broader development portfolio as European governments and utilities continue to accelerate investment in offshore wind to support decarbonisation targets and energy security objectives.
As construction progresses, key focus areas include project execution timelines, capital deployment, and eventual integration of the assets into the power system once operational.
