US-based hydrogen pure-play company, Plug Power, announces ambitious plans to deliver a record number of its Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolysers to third-party customers this year, surpassing its cumulative deliveries to date. With only 50MW of its PEM machines operational so far, Plug Power is poised to deliver a total of 189MW in 2024, marking a significant milestone in the company's journey towards expanding its green hydrogen technology offerings.

Plug Power's CEO, Andy Marsh, highlights the versatility of the electrolyser systems, ranging from 1MW to 5MW, deployed globally across various applications including refineries, industrial processes, and mobility solutions. The company aims to solidify its position as a leading provider of PEM technology worldwide by the end of the year, reflecting its commitment to driving the adoption of green hydrogen amidst a shifting energy landscape.

Despite the challenges posed by the relatively higher production costs of green hydrogen compared to conventional grey hydrogen, Plug Power remains optimistic about the future prospects of large-scale green hydrogen projects. With subsidies expected to catalyze project development in key markets like the US and EU, Plug Power stands ready to support these initiatives by supplying electrolysers and offering engineering and design packages for upcoming projects.
