Power2Drive Europe to Showcase Mobile Electricity Storage Systems for Homes, Businesses, and Grid Stability

26 May 2023

Power2Drive Europe, the leading international exhibition for charging infrastructure and e-mobility, is set to showcase the latest advancements in bidirectional charging technology.

With over six million electric and hybrid cars on Europe's roads in 2022 and an EU mandate for all cars to be electric by 2035, the potential for utilizing electric vehicles (EVs) as mobile energy storage systems is on the rise. Bidirectional charging enables EVs to not only draw power from the grid but also feed excess electricity back into the system, making them valuable contributors to grid stability. By leveraging vehicle batteries, these systems can supply clean energy to private homes and businesses, optimizing self-consumption of solar power and reducing reliance on the grid during peak loads.

The Power2Drive Europe exhibition, held at Messe München from June 14 to 16, will bring together over 300 suppliers of charging infrastructure solutions. The event aims to highlight innovations in bidirectional charging and explore market trends, research findings, and projects related to electromobility and charging infrastructure. The Power2Drive Europe Conference 2023, taking place alongside the exhibition, will delve into the challenges and opportunities of bidirectional charging, featuring discussions on pilot projects, scalability, and the role of V2G (Vehicle-to-Grid) in the decentralized grid of the future. As the demand for bidirectional charging grows, the industry is working towards developing readily available charging solutions, paving the way for a new energy ecosystem that harnesses the flexibility of EV batteries on a larger scale, contributing to a stable power grid and sustainable energy transition.
