Prime Data Centers Breaks Ground on Three Buildings at 240MW Phoenix Campus
Prime Data Centers has begun construction on three of the five planned buildings at its PHX01 data center campus in Phoenix, Arizona, marking a significant milestone in the development of the 240MW facility.
According to the company, each of the three buildings will span approximately 267,000 square feet and provide 48MW of IT capacity. The campus is being developed on a 66.5-acre site located at 3700 S. Avondale Boulevard.
In addition to the data center buildings, Prime Data Centers has commissioned a 250MW substation for the campus. The first phase of the substation is expected to deliver 144MW of IT capacity upon completion.
The company said the first three buildings have already been secured by a "leading hyperscaler," although the customer was not identified. The remaining two planned buildings have not yet entered construction and remain available for future tenants.
The Phoenix project forms part of Prime Data Centers' broader expansion strategy. The company reports having approximately 7GW of operational and planned capacity across the United States and Europe, with developments in Texas, California, Illinois, Germany, and Spain.
The announcement follows a preferred equity investment completed in April by Grain Management in Data Realty Holding Corp., the controlling shareholder of Prime Data Centers. The investment is intended to support the company's continued growth and expansion of its data center portfolio.
