Prysmian to Acquire Subsea Cable Survey Company ACSM for $200 Million
Prysmian Group, the Milan-based cable manufacturer, announced it will acquire Spanish subsea cable survey and installation specialist ACSM (Amplicon Coastal and Marine) for $200 million (€169 million), in an all-cash deal expected to close by February 2026. Prysmian is paying about 6.6 times ACSM’s annual operating profit for the company, a common way to value businesses in acquisitions.
The acquisition brings critical subsea engineering and installation services in-house, including surveying, seabed preparation, inspection, maintenance, and decommissioning, reinforcing Prysmian’s position as a fully integrated subsea cable provider. ACSM, headquartered in Vigo, Spain, operates globally with bases in the Canary Islands, Mexico, and the UAE, and manages a fleet of three DP2 vessels along with inspection ROVs and trenching equipment. The deal also includes $28 million (€24 million) in capital expenditure for ACSM’s newest vessel, the OSV Genesis, delivered in late 2025.
The move complements Prysmian’s earlier January acquisition of subsea telecom cable provider Xtera, a joint venture with Fincantieri, aimed at creating a “one-stop shop” for submarine telecom solutions. Xtera brings proprietary optical transport technology and a track record in submarine telecom projects.
Together, the acquisitions position Prysmian as an integrated turnkey provider across both energy and telecom subsea cable markets, allowing the company to manage the full value chain from manufacturing to installation, while addressing growing demand driven by global data traffic, network resilience, and renewable energy projects.
