Prysmian Wins $417M Deal with Terna to Boost Italy’s Power Grid
Prysmian has won a three-year framework agreement with Terna, Italy's national electricity transmission operator, to strengthen the country's power grid. The contract, which includes an optional additional year, is valued at up to $417 million.
Under the agreement, Prysmian will supply high voltage alternating current (HVAC) cables and provide maintenance services for Terna's high voltage infrastructure. Terna is committed to purchasing at least 50 kilometers of cable annually, with potential increases based on future needs.
This partnership supports Italy's efforts to modernize its electricity transmission system, aligning with the objectives of the European Green Deal and the Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan.
Prysmian will manufacture the cables at its recently expanded facility in Pignataro Maggiore, Campania, which received over $22 million in investment to boost production capacity.
Marcello Del Brenna, CEO of Prysmian Europe, emphasized the collaboration's role in enhancing grid reliability and supporting the energy transition. Fabio Zucca, Italy Country Manager, highlighted the long-standing relationship between the two companies and the significance of the contract in advancing Italy's energy goals.
