Romania’s 1.24GW Dama Solar Project Receives Final Permit

Rezolv Energy has secured the final permit for the 1.24GW Dama Solar project in Romania, clearing a key regulatory milestone for what is set to become Europe’s largest solar power project.
The Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) issued the establishment authorization to project company West Power Investments. Located in Arad County near the Hungarian border, the project will have a planned grid connection capacity of 1.07GW.
Dama Solar is expected to cover around 1,064 hectares across the communes of Pilu and Grăniceri. The project has already secured Contracts for Difference (CfDs) for 520MW, with commercial operation targeted for September 2030.
The project has an estimated value of $603 million (€520 million), while Rezolv Energy has also indicated that battery storage could be added to the site.
