Entergy Pursues $220 Million in Grants to Enhance Resiliency of Louisiana’s Electric System

Entergy, a leading energy company, is actively pursuing approximately $220 million in federal grant funding to strengthen Louisiana's electric system.

The grants would be used to invest in infrastructure projects aimed at improving the reliability and resiliency of the power grid while reducing the impact of extreme weather events and expediting post-storm recovery efforts.

Entergy Louisiana and Entergy New Orleans have submitted grant applications for projects that include the hardening of distribution lines in North Baton Rouge and the installation of a battery-powered microgrid. These initiatives would directly benefit thousands of customers and contribute to the overall resilience of the electric system.

The funding opportunities come from the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law through the U.S. Department of Energy's Grid Resilience and Innovative Partnerships program. It is expected that winning submissions will receive government funding for half of the project's cost. The final awards for the grants are anticipated to be announced in the fall.
