RWE Expands Renewable Energy Footprint Across 11 States

19 Jun 2025
RWE, the third-largest renewable energy provider in the United States, announced the ongoing construction of 29 clean energy projects totaling 3.9 gigawatts across 11 states. The projects span onshore wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS).

In 2024 alone, RWE's domestic efforts created over 5,000 jobs, reflecting a significant boost to local economies and support for U.S. energy independence.

According to Andrew Flanagan, CEO of RWE Clean Energy, the company is expanding its U.S. energy portfolio in response to rising electricity demand. "These projects will deliver cost-competitive, reliable electricity and strengthen energy security while generating long-term benefits for local communities," said Flanagan.

Notable projects include:

  • Baron Winds II, a 117 MW wind farm in New York, expected to power 50,000+ homes and contribute $24 million in local tax revenue.

  • WR Graceland, a 150 MW solar farm in Tennessee, providing power to 24,000 homes and over $20 million in community tax benefits.

  • Ventasso, a 50 MW (200 MWh) battery storage project in California, designed to stabilize the grid during peak demand.

  • Arlington Valley, a 125 MW solar facility in Arizona, supporting 27,000 homes with $10 million in projected tax revenue.

With most equipment sourced domestically and a focus on local labor and apprenticeships, RWE continues to align its business with national energy and workforce development goals.
