RWE Expands U.S. Clean Energy Portfolio with New Texas Solar and Storage Project
RWE has officially commissioned the Stoneridge Solar Project, a 200 MW solar facility paired with 100 MW / 200 MWh of battery storage, aimed at enhancing grid reliability and delivering cost-competitive renewable electricity across Texas.
Andrew Flanagan, CEO of RWE Clean Energy, highlighted the project’s contribution to local economic growth and energy security. “Stoneridge Solar is a great example of the power of local partnership and the positive role energy projects play in economic stimulation,” he said.
The construction phase generated over 200 jobs, and permanent operational roles are now supported. The project is expected to contribute millions in tax revenue to Milam County and the Thorndale Independent School District, funding education and first responder initiatives, including renovations at Thorndale Elementary School. Shannon Morrison, Principal at Thorndale Elementary, said the company’s support has already made a tangible impact on students.
With this addition, RWE’s U.S. renewable energy capacity surpasses 11 GW, reinforcing the company’s position as a major provider of reliable clean energy. The project aligns with broader goals of accelerating U.S. energy independence while delivering economic and environmental benefits to local communities.
