RWE Starts Construction on Two New Onshore Wind Farms in Italy
RWE has begun construction on two new onshore wind farms in Italy, further expanding its renewable energy operations in the country. The 47 MW Serra Palino wind farm in Foggia, Apulia, will feature eight 5.9 MW turbines, while the 45 MW Venusia wind farm in Potenza, Basilicata, will comprise eight 5.6 MW turbines.
Both projects secured contracts in Italy's most recent renewable energy auction and are expected to be operational by the end of next year. Combined, they will supply green electricity to more than 83,000 Italian households, contributing to Italy's ongoing clean energy transition.
Katja Wünschel, CEO of RWE Renewables Europe & Australia, emphasized the role of onshore wind in Italy's energy landscape: "Onshore wind power is a cornerstone of Italy's energy transition, and for good reason: it is clean, mature and affordable."
These projects follow the recent commissioning of the Mondonuovo wind farm in July, signaling RWE's sustained commitment to renewable energy deployment in Italy and the broader European market.
