Siemens Gamesa to Invest $215 Million in Expanding Offshore Wind Production in France

25 Feb 2025
Siemens Gamesa has announced a $215 million investment in the extension of its offshore wind turbine blade manufacturing facility in Le Havre, France. The project was inaugurated on February 17, 2025, in the presence of Marc Ferracci, French Minister for Industry and Energy, and Édouard Philippe, Mayor of Le Havre.

This expansion will increase production capacity at the site, which will manufacture the company's latest generation of 14 MW turbines. The new blades, measuring 115 meters in length, will feature Siemens Gamesa's patented IntegralBlade technology, improving turbine performance and strength. The investment is part of a broader strategy to support Europe's green energy transition and will contribute to a growing offshore wind market.

The Le Havre plant, which began production in 2022, has already contributed to French offshore wind projects such as Fécamp and Saint-Brieuc. Once completed in 2026, the extended facility will play a key role in Siemens Gamesa's ambition to reach 2.5 GW of installed offshore wind capacity in France.

This expansion is also supported by a 25% tax credit for green industries provided by the French government, underscoring the strategic role of France in the renewable energy sector.
