SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy Launch Grid Storage System in Costa Rica
SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy have announced the commissioning of the Coopesantos Wind Power Energy Storage System, a new grid-connected facility located in Costa Rica. The project is reported to be the first in Central America to feature SINEXCEL's 1250kW energy storage inverter (PCS).
The system was officially launched at a ceremony attended by local government representatives. According to the companies, the storage solution is designed to support renewable energy integration and grid reliability through peak shaving, frequency regulation, and voltage support.
Key technical features include:
-
Power conversion efficiency exceeding 99%, according to SINEXCEL.
-
Virtual Synchronous Generator (VSG) technology, which enables black start and off-grid parallel operation.
-
Environmental resilience, including structural enhancements for high humidity, temperature fluctuations, and seismic activity.
The system was co-developed by SINEXCEL and Wasion Energy, both headquartered in China. During pre-commissioning seminars, the project reportedly received favorable feedback from Costa Rica's national power authorities and international industry participants.
The commissioning of this facility marks the companies' first energy storage deployment in Central America and forms part of their broader strategy for expansion in the Latin American market.
No financial terms or project capacity beyond the PCS specification were disclosed.
