SK Telecom Signs Deal to Integrate Digital Twin at Ulsan AI Data Center

1 Sep 2025
SK Telecom has formalized a partnership with Schneider Electric to supply mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) equipment and integrate a digital twin system for its new SK AIDC in South Korea. The agreement follows their initial MoU signed at Mobile World Congress 2025 (MWC25).

The partnership focuses on integrating Schneider Electric's Electrical Transient Analyzer Program (ETAP) digital twin software into SK Telecom's AI Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) platform. The digital twin system enables real-time monitoring, operational optimization, and efficient energy management, helping the data center maximize infrastructure utilization and reduce power consumption.

In addition to digital twin integration, Schneider Electric will supply switchgear, Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), transformers, and automated control systems. The two companies have established a joint working group to develop MEP reference designs, prefabricated solutions to shorten construction timelines, and expand Energy-as-a-Service (EaaS) offerings.

The collaboration also extends across SK Group affiliates, with joint development of UPS and Energy Storage System (ESS) technologies leveraging SK On's lithium-ion battery expertise, and coordinated procurement to maximize group-wide synergies.

The integration of the digital twin system is expected to support the gigawatt-scale expansion of SK AIDC in Ulsan, enhance operational efficiency, and strengthen the capabilities of SK Telecom's AI DCIM platform, establishing a more sustainable and efficient next-generation AI data center ecosystem.
