Sungrow, a global leader in PV inverters and energy storage systems (ESS), announced plans to open its first European manufacturing facility in Wałbrzych, Lower Silesia. The $273 million, 65,400 m² (16-acre) plant is expected to become operational within 12 months and create 400 jobs, strengthening the region’s renewable energy expertise.

The facility will have an annual production capacity of up to 20 GW for inverters and 12.5 GWh for energy storage systems, incorporating advanced manufacturing and quality-assurance capabilities. Shawn Shi, President of Sungrow Europe, said the plant will bring production closer to customers, enhance supply-chain stability, and support local employment.

Marcin Lerner, President of the Management Board of the Wałbrzych Special Economic Zone, highlighted Poland’s growing role in Europe’s clean energy sector, citing the region’s skilled workforce, technical universities, and supportive public programs.

In addition to boosting local production, the facility will improve Sungrow’s logistics across Europe by reducing lead times and enabling more efficient distribution. Sungrow Europe has been active in the region since 2005, operating 25 local offices, two R&D centers, 26 warehouses, and multiple training and service centers, with headquarters in Munich, Germany.

Founded over 29 years ago, Sungrow has installed 870 GW of power electronic converters worldwide and is recognized as the most bankable PV inverter and energy storage provider globally.
