India is working towards becoming a greener and cleaner nation by prioritizing sustainable energy sources such as solar power, hydropower, and wind energy. The country aims to meet its net zero emission commitment by 2070 and switch to sustainable energy sources to cater to about 50% of its electricity requirements by 2030. Additionally, India has recently announced the National Green Hydrogen Mission with an INR 19,700 crore outlay, aiming to achieve at least five million metric tonnes of green hydrogen production by 2030. The government's efforts towards sustainability are seen as a way to enhance energy efficiency, make it easily accessible to the common man, and reduce dependence on biomass such as dung, wood, and coal-based fuel for cooking purposes.
