TE Connectivity and CNIguard Partner to Advance Smart Grid Monitoring
TE Connectivity, a global leader in connectors and sensors, and CNIguard, a specialist in Industrial Internet of Things (IoT) platforms, have announced a strategic partnership to enhance smart grid monitoring. By integrating their sensing and data visualization technologies, the two companies aim to provide utilities with real-time insights, enabling predictive maintenance and improved grid reliability.
With utilities facing challenges such as aging infrastructure, extreme weather events, and the need for underground monitoring, this partnership will help modernize power grids. TE's smart grid solutions retrofit onto existing equipment, while CNIguard's platform offers enhanced transparency on real-time network conditions. This enables utilities to pinpoint faults, detect gas hazards, and identify cable hot spots efficiently.
Since its 2023 acquisition of Kries, TE has expanded its smart grid technology portfolio. Now, with CNIguard's secure, ISO 27001-certified digital architecture, the companies will offer a comprehensive solution that transforms legacy power infrastructure into a future-ready network.
Christian Pellon, CTO of TE's Energy business unit, emphasized the growing demand for real-time data connectivity in the Americas, while Chris Quire, CEO of CNIguard, highlighted the platform's ability to improve safety and reliability in underground grid spaces.
This partnership represents a major step toward predictive maintenance and grid optimization, allowing utilities to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency with a single, secure monitoring platform.
