Terra-Gen Brings 125 MW Solar Project Online in California
Terra-Gen has announced that its 125 MW Lockhart III solar project in San Bernardino County, California has reached commercial operations, adding new utility-scale renewable generation capacity to the state’s electricity system.
The project is part of the broader Lockhart solar complex and is connected to Southern California Edison’s Kramer Junction Substation via an existing transmission line. It is expected to generate enough electricity to supply approximately 62,500 homes and businesses annually.
The facility operates under long-term offtake agreements with corporate buyers and California load-serving entities, reflecting continued demand for contracted renewable power in the state’s grid.
According to Terra-Gen, construction of the project supported more than 370 jobs at peak activity and involved approximately 260,000 work hours without a lost-time incident, highlighting the scale of labor involved in utility-scale solar deployment.
The Lockhart complex is also expanding further, with a fourth phase under construction expected to add an additional 80 MW and enter commercial operation in the third quarter of 2026. Once complete, the broader site will contribute additional capacity to California’s evolving renewable-heavy grid.
Terra-Gen is jointly owned by Masdar and Igneo Infrastructure Partners, and operates a diversified portfolio of wind, solar, and energy storage assets across the United States.
