Tesla Expands Energy Storage Production with $200M Texas Megapack Facility
Tesla, Inc. is advancing its Megapack battery production in Brookshire, Texas, with a $200 million investment. The facility, located in Empire West Business Park, will replicate the company’s Lathrop, California, Megafactory and is expected to produce 10,000 Megapacks annually, equivalent to 40 GWh of energy storage. The units are intended to support grid stability and renewable energy integration.
The new factory includes two buildings at 100 Empire Boulevard: Building 9 (~92,900 m²) for assembly and Building 10 (~55,700 m²) for warehousing and logistics. Investments include approximately $44 million in facility upgrades, $150 million in manufacturing equipment such as robotic assembly and automated welding systems, and $31 million for distribution and logistics infrastructure.
Local authorities in Waller County approved a 10-year tax abatement, providing up to 60% property tax reduction if Tesla meets hiring and investment targets. The company has committed to employing 375 people by the end of 2026, growing to 1,500 by 2028.
The Brookshire facility is designed to complement Tesla’s Lathrop Megafactory, expanding U.S. utility-scale energy storage production. Tesla’s energy storage division has become a significant revenue driver, generating $3.01 billion in Q2 2025, and the Texas expansion further establishes the state as a primary U.S. hub for Tesla’s large-scale battery manufacturing.
