TotalEnergies Supplies 1.5 TWh of Green Energy to Google’s U.S. Operations
TotalEnergies has entered a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google to supply 1.5 terawatt-hours (TWh) of renewable electricity to power the tech giant’s data centers in Ohio.
The electricity will come from TotalEnergies’ Montpelier solar farm, which is connected to PJM, the largest electricity grid in the United States. The facility is nearing completion and will help support Google’s clean energy goals while reinforcing the region’s power reliability.
Will Conkling, Google’s Director of Clean Energy and Power, said the deal will strengthen grid stability and ensure access to cleaner energy for digital infrastructure across the region. Stéphane Michel, President of Gas, Renewables & Power at TotalEnergies, stated that the partnership highlights the company’s capacity to meet growing renewable energy demands from major tech firms while contributing to its goal of 12% profitability in the power sector.
The agreement is part of TotalEnergies’ broader U.S. renewable portfolio, totaling 10 gigawatts (GW) of projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage.
Google’s clean energy investments extend globally, with a recent $6.6 billion pledge to expand data centers in Germany. TotalEnergies continues to strengthen ties with major technology companies such as Microsoft, Amazon, and STMicroelectronics through similar renewable energy partnerships aimed at decarbonizing global digital infrastructure.
