Treaty Oak Launches 1,000-Acre Solar Project, Creating Jobs in Arkansas

24 Oct 2024
Treaty Oak Clean Energy, an Austin-based renewable energy company, has announced plans to build a 100-megawatt solar facility on 1,000 acres in southeastern Grant County, Arkansas. The Redfield Solar Project is expected to break ground in late 2024 and become operational by mid-2026.

The project will generate around 200 jobs during its construction phase and provide a boost to the local economy through property tax revenue and other economic benefits. Once operational, the facility will employ two to three technicians for ongoing maintenance.

"We're thrilled to kick off this project and become part of the Grant County community," said Christopher Elrod, CEO of Treaty Oak Clean Energy. "This project will not only bring jobs and economic benefits but will also contribute to Arkansas' energy leadership."

Treaty Oak will hold a job fair and open house on Thursday, October 24, at The Ridge at Little Creek in Sheridan, where company representatives will provide details on job opportunities, construction timelines, and project specifics.

Available jobs include positions for heavy equipment operators, solar installers, and electricians. The construction phase is expected to last between 16 to 18 months, according to Greg Karney, Vice President of Construction at Treaty Oak Clean Energy.
