Trinasolar Begins Deliveries for UK’s Sandon Brook Solar and Storage Project

18 Mar 2025
Trinasolar has commenced deliveries for a 49.9MW colocated solar and storage project at Sandon Brook in Essex, UK, owned and led by Low Carbon. This marks Trinasolar's first project integrating its solar modules, mounting structures, and energy storage systems at a single site.

The project will include nearly 80,000 Vertex N bifacial solar modules, each with up to 700W output, mounted on more than 1,100 FixOrigin structures. Trina Storage will supply the battery energy storage system (BESS), providing a 70MWh capacity through 36 Elementa cabinets. The single-source approach is intended to ensure component compatibility and optimize performance.

Once operational, the project is expected to generate electricity for over 16,500 homes and reduce 15,000 tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Sandon Brook is one of four Low Carbon sites in the UK where Trina Storage has provided BESS capabilities, contributing to a total storage capacity of 190MWh.

According to Low Carbon, the ability to source all major components from Trinasolar is expected to streamline project execution and system integration. Trinasolar has stated that this project aligns with its strategy to deliver integrated renewable energy solutions and reflects the increasing role of solar and storage in the transition to low-carbon power generation.
