Turkey's leading lithium-ion and energy storage manufacturer, Kontrolmatik Technologies, has inked a significant deal with Chinese energy firm Harbin Electric to deploy a groundbreaking 1GWh energy storage project within Turkey. The project, with an estimated investment of US$300 million, will be executed by Kontrolmatik's subsidiary, Progresiva, in collaboration with Pomega, specializing in energy storage systems.

Expected to be operational by 2025, the project will be situated in TekirdaÄŸ, near Istanbul, marking a pivotal milestone in Turkey's energy sector. Co-located with a wind power project, it signifies the nation's shift towards renewable energy and advanced energy storage solutions.

The signing ceremony held in Ankara garnered attention from diplomatic circles, with the presence of China's ambassador to Turkey, Liu Shaobin, and Turkey's vice president, Cevdet Yılmaz, underscoring the strategic importance of the collaboration. Kontrolmatik's growing footprint in energy storage is further evidenced by its ongoing projects in the northwest Marmara region and its pioneering LFP gigafactory in Ankara.
