Ukraine’s Energy Security Gets a Boost with Vestas Partnership

23 Jan 2025
Vestas has secured a 384 MW order for the second phase of DTEK's Tyligulska Wind Energy Project in Ukraine, reinforcing its role in strengthening the country's renewable energy infrastructure. This new order complements the initial 114 MW Tyligulska I project commissioned in 2023, bringing the combined capacity of both phases to 498 MW.

The project, consisting of 83 V162-6.2 MW turbines in 6.0 MW operating mode, will make it Ukraine's largest wind energy initiative. Henrik Andersen, CEO of Vestas, highlighted the significance of this collaboration, stating it supports Ukraine's energy security and sustainable transition. Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK, emphasized the resilience of Ukraine's energy sector despite ongoing challenges.

The project is backed by EIFO (Export and Investment Fund of Denmark) and supported by Danish, Ukrainian, and EU authorities. Turbine delivery is slated for early 2025, with full commissioning expected by the end of 2026. Additionally, Vestas will provide long-term maintenance under a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 service agreement.
