California Adds 200 MW Solar and 800 MWh Storage
Avantus and Clean Power Alliance (CPA) have signed a 20-year power purchase agreement (PPA) for the Rexford 2 solar and storage project in Tulare County, California.
The project will combine 200 megawatts (MWac) of solar generation with 200 MW/800 MWh of battery energy storage, providing renewable electricity and grid support for Southern California communities. The project is expected to generate enough energy to power approximately 84,000 homes.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2027, with commercial operations under the agreement expected to start in May 2029. Avantus plans to own and operate the facility as part of its independent power producer strategy.

Clean Power Alliance Vice President of Power Supply Lindsay Descagnia said the project will provide long-term pricing stability while adding renewable energy and storage capacity to support California’s electricity needs.
The project is expected to create more than 500 union construction jobs and generate significant local tax revenue in Tulare County. Fluence will provide its Smartstack™ battery energy storage solution for the facility.
Avantus said Rexford 2 will be developed on previously disturbed land as part of its broader renewable energy portfolio across California, Nevada, and Arizona.
