CHINT and Octopus Energy Sign Strategic Agreements on Renewables and Virtual Power Plants
CHINT and Octopus Energy have signed two Memoranda of Cooperation (MoCs) to expand collaboration on renewable energy development and digital energy technologies. The agreements establish a framework covering global renewable energy projects, engineering services, equipment supply, and virtual power plant (VPP) solutions, with the aim of supporting clean energy deployment in multiple markets.
The first agreement focuses on the integrated development of renewable energy projects worldwide. CHINT will contribute capabilities across photovoltaic modules, battery energy storage systems (BESS), engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) services, and other power equipment, while Octopus Energy will provide expertise in project development, investment, and energy market operations. The companies intend to jointly pursue opportunities across the renewable energy value chain.
The second agreement is centered on virtual power plants and digital energy management. The partners will combine CHINT's smart energy technologies with Octopus Energy's Kraken technology platform to explore integrated energy management solutions that improve grid flexibility, optimize distributed energy resources, and support the wider adoption of digital energy systems.
Greg Jackson, Founder of Octopus Energy Group, described the collaboration as an opportunity to combine Octopus' energy technology with CHINT's manufacturing and infrastructure capabilities to support the global energy transition. CHINT Chairman Nan Cunhui noted that the agreements bring together complementary strengths in smart energy and digital innovation to advance renewable energy deployment and intelligent power systems.
