Flex to Acquire EPC Power for $4.4 Billion to Expand Power Conversion
Flex has agreed to acquire EPC Power for $4.4 billion, strengthening its portfolio of power conversion technologies for AI data centers and grid applications. The transaction is expected to close in Q4 2026, with EPC Power becoming part of Flex’s Cloud and Power Infrastructure segment ahead of its planned separation in 2027.
For the power systems industry, the deal is notable for EPC Power’s focus on grid-forming controls, energy storage and high-voltage power conversion. Its platform combines digital rectifiers, inverters, storage and controls, supporting emerging 800 V DC data center architectures and integrating functions traditionally provided by separate equipment.
The technology can scale to 6 MW per system and includes a roadmap for solid-state transformers (SSTs), while enabling integration of solar, fuel cells and other distributed generation.
“Together with our existing power, cooling and compute capabilities, this transaction expands our ability to design and deliver digital infrastructure as an integrated system,”
said Flex CEO Revathi Advaithi.
EPC Power CEO Jim Fusaro said customers need power systems that are “more intelligent, efficient and resilient” as AI infrastructure demand increases.
The combination could accelerate integration of BESS, HV connections and advanced power electronics into digital infrastructure.
