GE Vernova Expands Gas Power Capacity with $41M Schenectady Investment

GE Vernova has announced a $41 million investment in its Schenectady, New York, facility to expand generator capacity and support rising global energy demand. The project is expected to create 50 new jobs over the next two years.

The funding will enhance the company's Center of Excellence for Steam and Generator assembly and testing, with a focus on manufacturing H65 and H84 generators, which pair with GE Vernova's high-efficiency HA gas turbines.

The State of New York is supporting the project with a $1 million Excelsior Jobs Program grant.

"This investment in our Schenectady facility continues our work to build gas power capacity and help meet global energy needs," said Scott Strazik, CEO of GE Vernova.

Governor Kathy Hochul praised the investment, noting its role in advancing manufacturing, research, and sustainability while bringing high-paying jobs to Upstate New York.

This initiative follows more than $130 million in investments since 2023 at the Schenectady site, which collectively are expected to generate over 300 jobs. Companywide, GE Vernova has announced $720 million in U.S. manufacturing investments in 2025, part of a broader $9 billion global capital expenditure and R&D plan through 2028.
