Korkia Sells 125 MW Battery Storage Project to Enlight
Korkia has completed the sale of the ready-to-build 125 MW Kukonkylä battery energy storage project in Sievi, Finland, to Enlight Renewable Energy.
Located in Northern Ostrobothnia, Kukonkylä is one of Finland’s largest publicly announced standalone battery storage projects. The facility is expected to connect to Finland’s transmission grid in the first half of 2028.
“Kukonkylä represents an important addition to Enlight’s energy storage portfolio in Finland and strengthens our broader European platform,” said Adi Leviatan, CEO of Enlight.
The project was developed by Korkia Semecon Finland Renewables, a joint venture between Korkia and Semecon. Korkia made its investment decision in November 2024 and brought the project to ready-to-build status in May 2025.
The project is expected to provide flexibility to Finland’s power system as the share of wind and solar generation continues to increase.
