Sabanci Renewables Acquires Lucky 7 Solar Project in Texas from OCI Energy

OCI Energy and Sabanci Renewables have completed the sale of Project Lucky 7 Solar, a 100-MWac (130-MWdc) solar installation located in Hopkins County, Texas, within the ERCOT-North market.

Announced on August 15, the deal marks the second transfer between the companies in recent months, following the July sale of Project Pepper, a 120-MWac solar facility in McLennan County. Project Lucky 7 spans approximately 745 acres and is expected to reach commercial operation in 2027.

The transition was formalized during a signing ceremony at OCI Energy's headquarters in San Antonio, Texas.

Sabah Bayatli, President of OCI Energy, said the partnership "reflects both companies' commitment to delivering high-impact, long-lasting clean energy projects." Tolga Kaan Doğancıoğlu, CEO of Sabanci Renewables, described the acquisition as a continuation of Sabanci's strategy to build 3 GW of renewable capacity in the U.S. by 2030.

The companies also announced plans to explore future collaborations focused on developing secure, reliable, and affordable clean energy solutions.

Sabanci Renewables, a subsidiary of Turkey's Sabanci Holding, is expanding its renewable footprint in the U.S. market. OCI Energy, meanwhile, is targeting 10 GW of utility-scale solar and battery storage capacity by 2028.
