Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories Expands With New Idaho Plant
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) has begun site preparation for a new electronic device manufacturing facility on its Schwartz Campus in Moscow, Idaho.
The 250,000-square-foot facility represents a $50 million investment and is designed to expand the company’s manufacturing capacity for products used to protect, monitor and control critical infrastructure, including electric power systems. Construction is expected to begin early this summer, with completion targeted for late 2027.
Early site work is being performed by Motley-Motley, while building design is underway with Bernardo Wills Architects of Spokane.
According to Dave Whitehead, president of Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, the project supports the company’s long-term growth and commitment to Idaho. The facility is expected to create approximately 1,000 jobs once fully operational, with hiring planned in phases beginning in summer 2027 as production lines come online.
SEL currently operates electronic device manufacturing facilities in Pullman, Washington; Lewiston, Idaho; West Lafayette, Indiana; and Lake Zurich, Illinois. The new Moscow facility will further expand its footprint in the Pacific Northwest.
The project adds to ongoing industrial development in the region and represents one of the larger recent manufacturing investments in northern Idaho.
