SEG Solar Expands US Module Capacity With New Texas Plant

SEG Solar has inaugurated its second US photovoltaic module manufacturing facility in Tomball, Texas, adding 4GW of annual production capacity to its US manufacturing footprint.

The Tomball #1 facility represents an investment of $200 million and covers more than 500,000 square feet. The plant has an annual production capacity of 4GW and includes four production lines for HJT (heterojunction technology) modules using 210 mm and 210R wafer formats.

The company said commercial operations are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2026. Once operational, the facility will bring SEG’s total US module manufacturing capacity to 6GW, including its existing 2GW facility in Houston.

At the August 7 inauguration, Jun Zhuge, SEG founder and COO, said the company was preparing for further expansion in the US.

“Looking ahead, we are advancing our third U.S. HJT module manufacturing facility and planning a U.S. cell manufacturing facility,” Zhuge said.

SEG announced in June that its third US module factory would add another 4.6GW of annual capacity. The company has said the expansion would bring its total US module manufacturing capacity to 10.6GW.

The Tomball facility is expected to employ around 500 workers at full production, while approximately 100 workers are being brought in initially for the plant’s start-up and calibration phase.

SEG also plans to establish a US solar cell manufacturing facility by 2028.
