Wind leads 2022 renewables surge in Germany

GERMANY - Almost half of the electricity was generated by green sources finds the Federal Network Agency

 

According to the agency, almost half of the electricity in Germany was generated from renewable sources in 2022, according to Federal Network Agency market data. The share of electricity generated from renewable energies in consumption was 48.3% in 2022 up from 42.7% in 2021.

The Agency announced that the Wind turbines made the largest contribution to this - especially on land. Together, onshore and offshore systems accounted for a share of 25.9%.

Overall, the generation from renewable energies in 2022 was 233.9TWh, around 8.5% above the previous year's figure of 215.5TWh.

At 100.5TWh, onshore wind generation was around 12.4% higher than in the previous year (89.4TWh).At 24.7TWh, generation from offshore wind turbines was 2.9% above the previous year's figure of 24.0TWh. The photovoltaic feed-in was also higher, the Agency said.
