Zelestra Advances Construction of 27.5 MWdc Klevenow Solar Plant in Germany
Global renewable energy company Zelestra has advanced construction of the 27.5 MWdc Klevenow solar project in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.
The project has reached key milestones: most ground mounting posts are installed, half of the low-voltage cabling is laid, and the high-voltage transformer is in place in the substation. Solar modules are expected to arrive within two weeks, with full commercial operation projected by the end of Q2 2026. Construction will support approximately 40 jobs.
The plant’s anticipated annual production of 28,700 MWh will supply commercial and industrial demand in the nearby Pomeranian Triangle, while helping avoid roughly 9,500 tons of CO2 emissions per year. Zelestra is also developing a 30 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) to hybridize the site and further support local energy demand.
Robert Hienz, CEO of Zelestra Germany, said: “The Klevenow project marks the beginning of a busy construction period. We anticipate breaking ground on more than 120 MW of solar capacity this year across five projects secured in EEG tenders. Klevenow will be operational this summer, contributing to our pipeline of over 2 GW of solar and BESS projects nationwide.”
The project forms part of Zelestra’s accelerated growth plan in Germany following its 2024 acquisition of East Energy. The company currently has three offices in Hamburg, Berlin, and Rostock and a team of over 70 people managing a portfolio of 25 solar and 15 BESS projects.
