In a significant move to address the escalating electricity demand in Singrauli district, MP Power Transmission Company (MP Transco) has successfully upgraded its 132 KV substation at Dongrital. The company replaced the older 20 MVA power transformer with a new 50 MVA unit, effectively boosting the substation's capacity to 70 MVA. This strategic upgrade, costing approximately $700 000 (Rs 5.76 crore), is poised to significantly enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply across the region.
The upgrade comes amidst the pressing need to meet the growing demands of various sectors, including coal mining, industry, agriculture, and domestic consumption. With the installation of the 50 MVA transformer, MP Transco aims to ensure stable and high-quality electricity supply at proper voltages, providing relief to over 30,000 consumers in 138 villages within the Dongrital area. This move underscores MP Transco's commitment to modernizing and strengthening the power transmission infrastructure in Madhya Pradesh.
Executive Engineer Bijak Kumar Priye emphasized the importance of the upgrade in meeting the evolving needs of Singrauli's diverse sectors. He highlighted the significance of the enhanced capacity in catering to the burgeoning electricity demands, ensuring seamless operations and productivity across industries. The installation of the new transformer not only elevates the substation's capacity but also marks a step forward in MP Transco's mission to provide reliable and efficient power transmission services.
The commendation from Energy Minister Shri Pradyuman Singh Tomar underscores the significance of MP Transco's efforts in achieving this milestone. The upgrade aligns with the company's broader initiative to strengthen the electricity transmission system statewide. With over 1014 power transformers and 416 EHV substations operating across different voltage levels, MP Transco continues to play a pivotal role in meeting the increasing electricity needs of Madhya Pradesh. This strategic upgrade not only addresses the immediate demands in Singrauli but also sets the stage for future expansions and advancements in the state's power transmission infrastructure.
