esVolta to Invest $450M in Utility-Scale Battery Storage Expansion Across the US
US battery storage developer esVolta has closed an upsized corporate credit facility of up to $450 million to expand its utility-scale energy storage portfolio across North America.
The financing was led by Nomura Securities International, which also arranged the company’s original $200 million facility in 2024. The expanded package includes participation from Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners, Allianz Global Investors, Celtic Bank, HSBC Asset Management, Fiera Infrastructure Private Debt, and Truist Bank.
esVolta said it will use the proceeds for project development, procurement of long-lead equipment, and pre-construction activities across its pipeline, which spans major US power markets including CAISO, ERCOT, WECC, SPP, and MISO.
The company’s portfolio includes approximately 25 GWh of storage projects, with about 2.0 GWh currently in operation or under construction.
CEO Randolph Mann said the facility “reflects strong confidence in esVolta’s strategy, capabilities in financing and project development, and long-term growth trajectory.”
Nomura executives Vinod Mukani and Alain Halimi said the deal underscores “the growing importance of battery storage in the US energy landscape.”
The transaction highlights continued investment momentum in utility-scale storage as grid operators integrate higher levels of renewable generation and seek additional flexibility resources.
