Shell Announces Leadership Changes in Renewables and Energy Solutions

Shell plc has announced key changes to its Executive Committee, effective April 1, 2025, following the departure of Huibert Vigeveno, Director of Downstream, Renewables, and Energy Solutions. Vigeveno, who has been part of the Executive Committee since January 2020 and served Shell for 30 years, will step down on March 31, 2025, to pursue other opportunities.

Wael Sawan, Chief Executive Officer of Shell, praised Vigeveno's contributions, highlighting his leadership in the transformation of Shell's Downstream, Renewables, and Energy Solutions segment: "I am grateful to Huibert for his outstanding contributions to Shell, driving our customer value proposition across a range of businesses and geographies, successfully leading the BG integration, and most importantly, for leading the transformation in Downstream, Renewables and Energy Solutions, through a disciplined focus on performance, portfolio and people. Today's performance is testament to his leadership, and he leaves Downstream, Renewables and Energy Solutions strongly positioned for the future. I wish him well in his future endeavours."

Taking over leadership responsibilities, Andrew Smith has been appointed Director of Trading and Supply, while Machteld de Haan will assume the role of Director of Downstream, Renewables, and Energy Solutions. Both will join the Executive Committee on April 1, 2025.

Smith brings decades of experience in trading, supply, and downstream operations, having joined Shell in 1986. De Haan has been with the company since 1998, holding leadership positions across various business units, including Global Lubricants and Chemicals and Products.

The company emphasized that these changes align with its ongoing transformation strategy to deliver more value while reducing emissions.

Shell's financial reporting segments remain unchanged.
