Trench Group Acquires RPC Composite Insulator Assets
Trench Group has signed an agreement to acquire the composite insulator production assets of Reinhausen Power Composites (RPC), a subsidiary of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen, strengthening manufacturing capacity for critical components used in high-voltage power systems.
The transaction includes key machinery, equipment, software, and intellectual property required for the engineering, design, and manufacturing of RPC’s full hollow-core composite insulator portfolio. These components play a crucial role in the transmission and distribution (T&D) sector, supporting the reliability and performance of high-voltage equipment across global power grids.
The transfer of assets is expected to begin in summer 2026. Equipment will be relocated to Trench Germany in Bamberg, where it will expand an existing production line already capable of manufacturing composite insulators rated up to 800 kV. The move is intended to address ongoing capacity constraints in the global composite insulator market.
According to Dr. Bahadir Basdere, CEO of Trench Group, the acquisition strengthens vertical integration while maintaining a balanced “make and buy” strategy, with continued collaboration with external suppliers. The company expects the integration to result in shorter lead times and improved supply reliability for utilities and original equipment manufacturers.
The agreement was jointly signed by Dr. Bahadir Basdere and Dr. Nicolas Maier-Scheubeck, Chairman of the Board of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen.
