Entech Secures $45M Deal for 180 MWh BESS in France
French energy technology company Entech has secured a nearly $45 million (€40 million) EPC contract to build a 90 MW/180 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) in mainland France.
Awarded by an undisclosed French electricity producer, the project represents Entech's largest contract as a sole EPC contractor.
The facility will provide two hours of storage at full rated output, supporting grid flexibility and renewable energy integration.
The turnkey contract includes construction of a high-voltage substation connecting the battery installation to the 90 kV transmission network operated by RTE, France's transmission system operator.
Entech will oversee engineering, subcontractor selection, construction and commissioning. The agreement also includes a renewable five-year operations and maintenance (O&M) contract.
Christopher Franquet, Entech's Chairman and CEO, said the agreement supports the client's energy storage development strategy and demonstrates Entech's technical and financial capacity to manage larger projects independently.
