PSE Breaks Ground on 130 MW Battle Butte Solar Project
Puget Sound Energy (PSE) announced groundbreaking on its 130 MW Battle Butte Solar Project near Rapelje, Montana, on October 15, 2026. The facility is expected to generate electricity equivalent to the needs of 20,000 homes.
The project will feature over 350,000 bifacial solar modules across approximately 1,200 acres, alongside a substation and transmission infrastructure connecting to PSE’s operational 248 MW Beaver Creek Wind Project.
Construction is expected to support approximately 250 jobs, with completion anticipated in mid-2028.
Craig Pospisil, PSE’s Senior Vice President and Chief Development Officer, said: “Battle Butte solar represents a critical component of our clean energy strategy.”
The project supports Washington’s Clean Energy Transformation Act and renewable energy integration. Since 2019, PSE has added 22 long-term clean energy resources totaling over 4,000 MW and eliminated coal from its portfolio by the end of 2025.
