LightPartner Wins 2 GW Offshore Platform Contract
German LightPartner has secured a contract to supply lighting systems for four 2 GW offshore converter platforms being developed for grid connections in the German North Sea.
The order covers the BalWin1, BalWin2, BalWin3 and LanWin2 platforms, with commissioning scheduled between 2030 and 2032. Georg Blum, CEO of LightPartner, said: “This is one of the largest orders we have received in our company’s history and another major success in the important future market of offshore wind. We are delighted that our luminaires will contribute to the success of these projects and to the energy transition in Germany and Europe”.
The platforms are part of Germany’s expanding offshore transmission infrastructure and will transmit electricity from offshore wind farms to the mainland grid.
Amprion is developing BalWin1 and BalWin2, scheduled for operation in 2030 and 2031. In 2023, Amprion awarded their platform contract to Siemens Energy and Dragados Offshore.
