EDF Moves to Sell US and Canadian Clean Energy Assets to KKR

EDF has signed an agreement under which KKR will acquire its renewable energy operations in the United States and Canada, covering EDF power solutions’ assets and activities across both markets.

The business being sold develops, builds, and operates renewable power plants and related infrastructure, including energy storage systems, EV charging, and microgrids. In North America, it manages a portfolio with a net installed capacity of 5.6 GW.

The transaction follows a competitive process and remains subject to consultation with employee representative bodies as well as approval from relevant governance authorities.

EDF power solutions operates across the full project lifecycle, from origination and development through to construction and commercial operation. Its North American activities are carried out through EDF power solutions Inc in the United States and EDF power solutions Canada Inc in Canada.

The agreement gives KKR the right to acquire the assets, while EDF retains the option to proceed with the sale once required procedures and approvals are completed.

The move reflects continued portfolio adjustments by major utilities as investment focus shifts across different regions and technologies within the energy transition landscape.
