Germany and India Expand Clean Energy Cooperation
Germany and India are expanding their energy partnership into green hydrogen, advanced solar technology and clean-technology supply chains, emphasizing technology transfer and commercial integration.
The cooperation, highlighted at a New Delhi event, supports India’s National Green Hydrogen Mission and its target of 500 GW of non-fossil capacity by 2030.
Gottfried von Gemmingen, Counsellor and Head of Development Cooperation at the German Embassy, said: “Development cooperation with India spans almost six decades. Germany has been a steadfast partner in supporting India’s green growth agenda, and this expansion into green hydrogen and advanced solar technology underscores our shared commitment to global decarbonization.”
Germany has provided more than €1 billion in concessional financing for intra-state green energy corridors, supporting large-scale solar and wind integration. The countries established the Partnership for Green and Sustainable Development in 2022, under which Germany pledged €10 billion in new and additional commitments through 2030 for energy transition projects.
