Nextnova to Launch 2 GW Solar Cell Plant in Oklahoma
Nextnova, a division of Thornova Solar, plans to begin mass production at a new 2 GW solar cell manufacturing facility in Yukon, Oklahoma, in the first quarter of 2027.
The company is converting a 450,000-square-foot former Xerox facility for the project. According to Nextnova, the plant will initially produce 2 GW of silicon solar cells annually, with potential expansion to 6 GW. The project is expected to create around 300 jobs.
Thornova Solar was established in 2022 as a U.S.-focused arm of China-based Sunova Solar. The company also has manufacturing operations and production capacity in Kenya and Indonesia.
Nextnova has not disclosed where the new cells will ultimately be sold or assembled into solar modules.
