Elgin acquires 200 MW Blackhall Solar Farm in Ireland
Elgin has acquired the approximately 200 MW Blackhall Solar Farm in County Meath from GP Joule, a late-stage solar development with planning consent and grid connection arrangements in place.
Elgin plans to invest approximately €200 million ($227.3 million) in the development and construction of the project. The acquisition also increases its capacity eligible for Ireland’s sixth Renewable Electricity Support Scheme (RESS)auction.
“As we continue to grow our portfolio of owned renewable energy assets, projects like Blackhall will play an important role in supporting Ireland’s decarbonisation ambitions, energy security and long-term economic growth,” said Dermot Kelleher, CEO of Elgin.
Ireland is targeting 80% renewable electricity generation by 2030. EirGrid reported renewables supplied 29% of domestic electricity generation in August 2026, up 58% year over year.
RESS 6 auction results are expected in January 2027.
