Flatiron Wins NYSERDA Contracts for Two NYC BESS Projects
USA – Flatiron Energy has secured NYSERDA contracts for two lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Mott Haven, the Bronx, totaling 256 MW.
Blue Spruce Storage will provide 133 MW with four-hour storage and interconnect with Con Edison. Palladium Storage, rated at 123 MW/492 MWh, will connect through the New York Power Authority (NYPA).
The projects were selected under NYSERDA's inaugural Index Storage Credit (ISC) solicitation, alongside six others totaling approximately 950 MW statewide.
Doreen M. Harris, NYSERDA President and CEO, said the facilities will support grid reliability during peak demand.
Both projects target commercial operation by December 31, 2030, subject to permitting, local approvals and fire safety requirements.
The awards support New York's energy storage expansion toward its 6 GW deployment target for 2030.
