Uriel Completes 10 MW/40 MWh BESS Projects in Massachusetts
USA – Uriel Renovables and its US partner Silo Energy have completed two battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Massachusetts, totaling 10 MW/40 MWh.
Located in Framingham and Chicopee, each facility has a 5 MW power rating, 20 MWh of storage capacity and four-hour discharge duration.
Developed through Uriel Renewables, the company's US subsidiary, the projects represent a combined $20 million investment (€18 million) and are undergoing commissioning.
The systems will store electricity during lower-demand periods and discharge during peak consumption, supporting grid stability in New England.
Both participate in Massachusetts' Clean Peak Standard program, which incentivizes clean electricity delivery during peak demand.
Ignacio Huarte, President of Uriel Renovables, described the installations as the company's first entry into the US battery storage market.
Framingham's inauguration took place on September 30, 2026. Both facilities remain in commissioning, with commercial operations not yet confirmed.
