DOE Announces $967M in US Power Grid Resilience Funding
The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) has announced approximately $967 million in additional funding for power grid resilience, infrastructure modernization and rising electricity demand across US states, territories and tribal communities.
The funding, provided through the Grid Resilience State and Tribal Formula Grant Program, will support locally driven projects to upgrade critical infrastructure, prevent outages and improve system performance.
The department said the investment aims to strengthen grid reliability while reducing electricity costs for households and businesses.
Chris Wright, US Secretary of Energy, said the funding would help improve reliability and affordability.
Katie Jereza, Assistant Secretary for the DOE's Office of Electricity, stated: “A strong and dependable grid is the backbone of American economic prosperity.”
The announcement expands federal support for grid modernization and infrastructure resilience.
Funding allocations and application instructions are available through the DOE's program portal for eligible recipients seeking to strengthen electricity systems.
